baked blueberry & banana oatmeal

I've been cooking a lot more lately. And by that I mean over the past two weeks I've cooked tofu and baked a sweet potato in the microwave. But ever since I started my diet, I've taken into account what ingredients go into my meals. Needless to say, I've began appreciating fruit way more than I'd like to admit.

So here's a little recipe I just tried out that I wanted to share. Now I'm no chef by any means, but if my culinary skills rendered me a phenomenally tasty treat then I urge all oatmeal fans to try this one out. But I must warn you, you'll never touch instant oatmeal ever again. So cook at your own risk.

Ingredients

1 cup oats

3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Pinch of salt

1/4 cup maple syrup

1 cup soy milk

1 tablespoon unsalted butter (melted)

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 ripe bananas (sliced into 1/2-inch thick pieces)

3/4 cup fresh blueberries

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

2. Spray a 1 and 1/2-quart casserole dish cooking spray.

3. In separate bowl mix together the oats, the cinnamon, & the salt.

4. In another small bowl mix the maple syrup, milk, half of the melted butter, and the vanilla.

5. Place the sliced banana pieces in a single layer in the bottom of the casserole dish.

6. Sprinkle about two-thirds of the fresh blueberries over the top of the bananas, then cover the blueberries with the oat mixture.

7. Pour the milk mixture over the oats, making sure to distribute the milk as evenly as possible.

8. Sprinkle the remaining blueberries over the top of the oats.

9. Bake the oatmeal for 35, or until the top is golden brown and oats have set.

Enjoy.

time warp

A lot has happened since I stopped updating this in June. Here is my condensed version.

I got an internship with Fashion Fix.

I moved in with one of my best friends.

I went to NY again.

I got inspired there and wrote about these finds (manolo blahnik, miu miu, anna sui, ysl, dolce & gabbana , peter fox) and more.

I went to Ohio. And wrote about some pretty snazzy street style.

I went to & helped out at a few fashion shows.

I graduated.

I got a cute boyfriend.

I fell in love and adopted this two and a half year old German Shepherd named Brylee.

simple key art : how-to

I am a collector of many things. From scrap paper to bottle caps...and even KEYS. I've been collecting these for awhile now and I've been going back and forth on what to do with them. I was inspired by my latest how-to where I updated my mirror to a white frame, which now hangs on a white wall. White on white is great. So I decided to try out the same concept with these keys.

supplies
-keys, of course!
-super glue
-spray paint
-a shadow box

how-to
1) find a safe place to spray paint your keys, lay down plastic, and get to sprayin'
2) if the background of your shadow box is not your desired color or pattern then paint it or apply the pattern. my favorite way to apply patterns to small objects such as the shadow box is just to simply glue down stationary paper. it's easy and fun. but fortunately for me my shadow box was already completely white. (remember you can paint the frame too)
3) arrange the keys in whichever order you choose. since i'm doing white on white i wanted to make mine tres chic and symmetrical. so i went with four rows and columns equally aligned.
4)after you've decided on an arrangement begin gluing your keys down.
5) assemble the shadow box and hang your creation on a wall that needs a little creative love.

*the glare in my apartment was terrible when I attempted to photograph my work so I had to place it where the least amount of obstruction took place. i actually hung this lovely shadowbox perpendicular to the wall where i placed my white mirror. love the white on white:)
