Unfortunately, a certain [shitty] circumstance prevented me from attending the trunk show tonight. But not to worry, I still supported my homegirl by purchasing this little number as soon as I got home.

I've been looking for a great one shoulder dress for awhile now. And this one is perfect. The fabric is fun and lively, yet still elegantly contrasts some darker hues. Exactly what I was looking for. However, I have to admit I am immensely disappointed I was not able to try on the maxi dress and some of the leggings I've had my eye on for awhile now. Maybe when I go pick up my dress, Miss Caroline will let me try a few things on:)
Anyways, I would just like to note the fact that I have just finished two more Christmas gifts within the past 4 hours. This year I have decided to make everything by hand. This includes not only the gifts themselves, but also the boxes and the wrapping paper.
Let me tell you, this is a process.
I made all of my gift boxes from the recycled cardboard I had accumulated and had yet to drop off at the recycling bins. So the recipients of my gifts will be surprised with an assortment of boxes resulting from Morning Star products, Magic Hat, Oatmeal Porter, Fat Tire, Duck Rabbit, and Kashi products...just to name a few. I'm sure my family will be glad to see that my alcoholism has, in fact, led me towards artistic & positive avenues.

Speaking of my alcoholism (okay, I'm not really an alcoholic)...after cracking open my first two beverages of the night, this is what Magic Hat had to offer me. These little positive affirmations immediately turned my day around. Thank you Magic Hat for never failing to put a smile on my face. Anyhow, take a gander at my made from scratch gift boxes:)

My first two. Here they are closed before wrapping them.

And HERE is the final product.

Yes, I painted the polka dots on. I attempted stripes on the other one but I got tired. I still think it looks pretty good. However, what I learned from this project is...I am 100% terrible at wrapping presents. Actually making the boxes was way easier than wrapping them. Oh well. Atleast the lucky few receiving these bad boys will also get a little sense of my hard work. Because not only the gifts are handmade, but the packaging is also. I'm sure you're wondering why I went through the trouble when I could just easily purchase boxes. Well, my friends, the simple answer is: art supplies. They are expensive. I realized this for the 150th time tonight after purchasing fiber paste. However, the fact that I put detail into every little aspect of my gifts will hopefully make them more special for the special people in my life. I guess only time will tell. In officially 2 weeks, I will know for sure.
